Golden Skybridge: Canada’s Tallest Suspension Bridges in the Majestic Canadian Rockies, Near Banff and Jasper
I’m certainly no stranger to traveling through the clouds, but up until recently this has only been via jet. Most of us have been searching for new ways to explore the great outdoors since 2020, and while I’ve had the opportunity to see so many beautiful landscapes during this time, I can honestly say that none have been quite as spectacular as my most recent trip to the Golden Skybridge.
Tucked away in the Canadian Rockies in the town of Golden, BC, the most breathtaking new attraction just opened that is a must-do for road trippers and daredevils alike. The Golden Skybridge is a pair of suspension bridges that create a nature walking loop through 3 kilometres of forested trails.
Boasting the title of the tallest suspension bridges in Canada, the Golden Skybridge is not for the faint of heart (or those with a fear of heights), but if you can stomach standing 426 feet above an expansive canyon, the views are absolutely unforgettable. On either side, you’ll see breathtaking views of the Rocky and Purcell mountain ranges while a crashing river and 200- foot waterfall flow below. And of course, the numerous viewing platforms throughout the trails of the Golden Skybridge offer plenty of photo opps to help you capture the incredible scenery.
I spent about 2 hours taking everything in at the Golden Skybridge. I love hiking and exploring new trails, but being able to see everything from a completely different perspective was truly awesome. As if the sheer magnitude of the bridges and trails weren’t thrilling enough, adrenaline junkies will soon have the opportunity to experience a free-falling swing for two and a 1,500-foot zipline offering a bird’s eye view of the waterfall. This would make for an amazing group activity or date night for those with similar adventure-seeking interests.
Believe it or not, if extreme heights aren’t quite your style, there is actually still plenty to do and see at the gorgeous Golden Skybridge. Anyone driving between British Columbia and Alberta can treat themselves to a not-your-average-rest-stop, with bathroom amenities, dining at The Village, a kids play area, and sightseeing spots that do not require you to test your bravery.
