It’s undeniable that 2020 has been one for the record books so far, no matter who you are or where you are located in the world. As we slowly and safely work to return to our normal routines, Father’s Day marks one of the first holidays this year that many people will be able to celebrate in a normal fashion, uninterrupted by stay-at-home orders. Whether you’re looking forward to spending time with your father (or father figure) for the first time in months, or are still social distancing and looking for the perfect gift to send to your loved one, I’ve compiled a list of some of my current favorite must-haves for every man.
For the dad who grew out his “quarantine hair”—and likes the idea of keeping it:
Upfront Cosmetics Refreshing Shampoo Bar & Invigorating Conditioner Bar
Most of the dads I know love it when their routines can be made more simpler in any way, and that’s one of the many reasons why I love Upfront Cosmetics shampoo and conditioner bars. We’ve all fallen victim to wasting shampoo or conditioner by pouring way too much out at once, or piling up a few more empty bottles on our shower shelves than we’d like to admit. These shampoo and conditioner bars will not only declutter your dad’s grooming routine, but they also leave hair feeling and smelling amazing. The other great part about this brand is their commitment to minimizing their ecological footprint and delivering high-quality products. To-date, they have diverted over 17,000 bottles from winding up in oceans and landfills, and their products are sulfate- paraben-, and synthetic fragrance-free.
For the dad who still loves to explore outside:
I’m so thankful that warm weather is finally here and that we can all spend more time outside. If your dad is the adventurous type and enjoys hiking or other outdoor activities, the Hunter line of men’s footwear is a must-have. While Hunter is well-known for their sleek and high-quality rain boots, I particularly love the design and functionality of this waterproof Chelsea Boot. They’re designed for all-day wear, and would be great for camping, exploring a new city on a damp day, or even going to an amusement park.
For the fresh-faced father:
Fresh Sugar Face Polish Exfoliator
Whether your dad is already conscientious about his skincare routine or he could just use some guidance on quality products, this “Clean at Sephora”-certified scrub will leave him feeling completely refreshed in just one easy step. This 2-in-1 face scrub and mask is recommended for all skin types and uses ingredients like brown sugar and strawberries to buff and hydrate skin.
For the dad who wants to sip whiskey while hosting a social distance BBQ:
Maybe your dad is looking for something that you can enjoy together, or any time of year. If his go-to drink is whiskey on the rocks, Legent Bourbon is one he absolutely must try. This isn’t your typical bottle of Jack or Johnny—Legent describes itself as a Kentucky straight bourbon finished in wine and sherry casks to push the boundaries of flavor while staying true to bourbon’s principles. The taste is so delicious and distinct that this whiskey works well on its own or in a variety of cocktails.
For the dad who is eager to get back to the office:
Grams28 Leather Folio & Wallet
Life will hopefully be back to normal before we know it, and we’ll all be returning to the hustle and bustle of our regular routines. Classy and professional work accessories, such as a high quality leather folio that can hold dad’s laptop or tablet, are always a staple on Father’s Day wishlists. If your dad is already set with a briefcase or doesn’t carry a laptop to work, I’m also a huge fan of Grams28 leather wallets, which look sophisticated and eliminate a lot of the bulk you often find with other men’s wallet styles. The coolest part about this fine leather fashion line? Each product comes with an individual code where you can learn more about its origin and ethical sourcing. For the dad who wants to smell like his dream vacation wasn’t canceled:
Having plans canceled—especially a dream vacation that you’ve been planning for months, or even years—is always disappointing. After being forced to shut down and embrace the stay-at-home lifestyle, simple things here and there can help us not only feel a sense of normalcy, but even help us feel an elevated appreciation for trying new things. One way we can help ourselves still feel great at home is to maintain our grooming and beauty routines, and to even get dressed up to help us feel like the best version of ourselves. The new eau de parfum, Chrome Extreme by Azzaro, is inspired by the Under The Pole adventure—a series of deep sea diving explorations aimed at discovering new ways to preserve the ocean—to deliver an intensely fresh and luxurious scent while helping dad stay in touch with his daring side. This is one of the most unique and enticing new scents I’ve come across in awhile, and if your father is a water-lover, he’ll appreciate the connection to Under The Pole just as much as the gift itself.
For the dad who won’t let a pandemic stop him from having a romantic date night:
Bottega Veneta Parco Palladiano III
I adore the scent of this unisex parfum because it provides a luscious aroma that anyone can enjoy. It boasts both fruity and woody fragrances and perfectly balances feminine and masculine notes. There are refreshing minty undertones, while also making you feel like you’re “strolling through the Villa’s succulent orchard,” as the brand says. This scent makes the perfect gift for anyone not only because of its unique fragrance, but also because of the beautiful packaging that will give anybody’s nightstand or sink a high-end editorial look.
I know these last few months haven’t been what any of us expected this year to become, but I am wishing you and your loved ones a relaxing summer filled with cherished and long-awaited family time. Happy Father’s Day, and happy summer!
