Being one of the most photographed hotels in the world, Fairmont Le Château Frontenac has experienced more than its fair share of publicity. However, nothing beats the first impact of this grand structure when you see it for the first time in real-life.
Fairmont Le Château Frontenac: A Rich Historical Heritage
Located in the heart of the Quebec City, the castle-like luxury hotel seems something right out of a fairy tale. The Fairmont Le Château Frontenac has a rich history spanning over 125 years that has earned it a spot in the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites. This Canadian landmark hosted one of the most historic events of the WWII, the Quebec Conference where the plan for the Normandy Landings was approved, leading to the culmination of the War.
The architecture of Fairmont Le Château Frontenac draws inspiration from the Renaissance and the Middle Ages. However, in 2014, the magnificent hotel underwent a major renovation. The planners have retained the original design and elegance of Fairmont Le Château Frontenac but have given it a contemporary touch to align it with the expectations of sophisticated and modern guests.
The Fairmont Le Château Frontenac Experience
While renovating Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, they have tried to preserve the refined graceful look of the luxury hotel. Most of the new designs are based on the St. Lawrence River, especially the lobby that takes you to infinity and beyond in the river blue ceiling. From the rich wooden panelling to the palatial marble flooring, Le Château Frontenac is an epitome of luxury and indulgence. The backlit blue onyx in the reception area sets the stage for a spectacular check-in into this grand 611 room hotel.
Indulge in Gold Fairmont at Le Château Frontenac
Want to revel in the exclusive experience of a high-end luxury hotel? Go for Gold Fairmont featuring breakfast buffets, honour bar from 5pm to 7pm, and private lounges with electric fireplaces.
My stay was nothing but a wonderfully pleasant experience. The room was modern yet cosy and made me feel right at home. The breakfast was served in the room and having my breakfast overlooking the mighty St. Lawrence was definitely a worth-it experience! I was treated to some welcome emoji macarons and Le Labo products were personalized with my blog name. These personalized details were extremely thoughtful.
Great Cuisine at Le Sam
Le Sam is a popular bar and restaurant where I had my lunch. The Bistro hosts lounge seating as well a scenic dining area overlooking St. Lawrence. The menu is a classic blend of traditional and contemporary cuisines. Their food is delectably delicious and the service is impeccable. The place is quite popular among the locals as well.
Fine Dining at Champlain Restaurant
The highlight of the Champlain is the floor-to-ceiling wine cellar, 30 crests of the founding families of the Quebec City, and a huge sculpture depicting the St. Lawrence river. The dining experience at the Champlain is a gastronomic treat. The servers at the restaurant take pride in the creations and explain the preparation process of the dish, that only adds more to the dining experience. The best part is that the menu at the Champlain also offers a vegetarian meal.
Fitness Centre and Spa at the Le Château Frontenac
The urban luxury resort maintains a fully equipped fitness centre, a 55-feet indoor swimming pool with outdoor terrace, and a five-room Spa de Château. The pool has a gorgeous ceiling with some traditional design elements. Want a spa session with your girl squad? Fairmont Le Château Frontenac offers a four-person spa room ideal for catching up with your girls.
Bottom Line
Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is the ultimate urban luxury hotel in Quebec City where the old-world charm springs to life and transports you to a world where dreams do come true!
Although I was hosted by Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac for this stay and treated to lunch at Le Sam, all opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.
